Eugenia Pesci is a Doctoral Candidate in the Aleksanteri Institute, University of Helsinki.

She is an early stage researcher in the MARKETS subproject focusing on the evolution and coherence of informal and formal rules and practices in the development of post-Soviet institutions. 

In her PhD thesis, she explores and compares informal practices in the provision of social welfare in Russia and other post-Soviet states and how they affect the making of social policies.

She graduated in Interdisciplinary Research and Studies on Eastern Europe from the University of Bologna with a thesis on the socio-economic development of Russian single-profile towns and the legacies of the Soviet enterprise-based welfare system.
