Alberica Camerani is from Ravenna, Italy. She holds a double master’s degree from the University College of London and the Higher School of Economics (Moscow) in Politics and Security with a focus on the post-Soviet space.

Alberica interned at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations in Moscow and worked at the Soros Foundation-Kyrgyzstan. Fascinated by Central Asia’s society and the transformation that the region has undergone since independence, Alberica investigates informality and female entrepreneurship in Kyrgyzstan.

More broadly, her research interests encompass regional security, identity formation and the interaction of religion and politics in Central Asian states.
